5 MAZDA Service Essentials for Summer
Extreme temperatures can affect engine and transmission health. This is especially the case with high summer temperatures. Here are the Mazda service maintenances recommended by our service technicians.
Check the Tires
Tire blowouts can occur any time of the year but are incredibly commonplace in the summer. Why is this?
Hot air increases pressure inside the tire, causing it to expand. The risk of blowouts increases if the tires are under or over-inflated. A comprehensive tire check includes a psi check, tread analysis, and more. A technician will let you know if new Mazda tires are warranted.
Check Coolant Levels
Coolant prevents the engine and transmission from overheating. Excess heat can lead to fluid loss from evaporation. Add coolant to the reservoir if levels are below the fill line. Use this occasion to inspect other fluids like the transmission, power steering, and windshield wiper fluids.
Check the AC
Car interiors are very efficient at trapping heat. This can create oven-like temperatures in the summer. Have a technician examine your AC if you notice any of the following:
- The air feels hot
- There’s a musty smell coming from the vents
- It takes longer than usual for the AC to cool the cabin
- Repeated noise from the AC compressor
Test the Brakes
There are more cars on the road in the summer. The increased traffic makes properly working brakes even more essential. If the brakes feel less responsive, or you must engage the brake pedal more than usual for a complete stop, you may have worn brake pads.
